The Veggie Grill: WeHo CA.

The Veggie grill was my spot for lunch today.. right next door to my apartment which is convenient :) Tried something new there the Chipotle BBQ Sandwich which was shredded veggie- steak marinated in tangy BBQ sauce, with chipotle ranch, caramelized onions, with lettuce and tomato . along with the steamed kale with a tahini dressing. Both amazing a little messy to eat but worth getting extra napkins! I love this place everything I've tasted is delicious:) I got a vegan gluten free brownie next door at Pizza Fusion ( which has organic pizza/salad not all vegan but they have vegan options) { PizzaFusion.com} This brownie was good very light and crisp on the top.. although I would go for a RFD cookie over it anytime:)!!

Today I took LA's version of a subway downtown to Flower Street. I call it a version because I love LA but definitely a place for a car, not the best public transportation I had to wait 10 minutes for a train, and the stations were to clean for a "subway station" to most people that prob. sounds strange but being used ( and spoiled) by the NYC subways.. I assume them all to be dirty and fast:) So sitting there waiting for the train part of me missed those subways in NYC and New York in general. It's a special city like no where else in the world, and today I miss it. LA is great ( better when I get my car) but part of me is still lingering in Manhattan. The familiar, the places, the people, the city. New York, I miss you.

Real Food Daily: WeHo CA.

We went to lunch at Real Food Daily my vegan favorite, I'll get to food reviewing in a minute but first let me say they seated us next to Sarah Wright ( Made of Honor, 7th Heaven) - we started chatting with her and she is so nice and the sweetest Celebrity I've met. She even gave me her email so she could help out with the film stuff. Such a sweet and kind hearted person.
Now to the food.. We started off with the Wabi Sabi Rolls .. Cabbage, cucumber, carrot, mint, rice noodles, in rice paper with wasabi dressing. absolutely yummy and so light! Then we went mexican and got the El Bandito Rojo wheat and gluten free corn enchiladas, seasoned tempeh, salsa roja, spanish rice, black beans, pico de gallo, tofu sour cream, and guac.. This was delicious the salsa roja was so good topped off a perfect pair of enchiladas! We also split the Caesar Salad with blackened tempeh. also extremely good. the portions are huge and yummy perfect for splitting! thats all for now . check it out! Realfood.com

The Veggie Grill: WeHo CA.

Today we ate at "The Veggie Grill" right next door to my apartment a 2 minute walk. which is perfect:) This place is amazing! Kelly Osbourne even enjoys a meal here from time to time! Today we started off with the Chill Out Wings , strips of chillin "chickin" with a tangy BBQ sauce.. These were amazing you would think they were chicken fingers and the BBQ sauce could be served as a beverage so good! Then we split the Chop- Chop Chef salad, chopped romaine, tempeh, veggie steak, chillin chickin, green onion, roasted corn salsa with a chipotle ranch dressing. This salad was one of the best salads I've had.. Full of protein and the ranch dressing just made it so much more delicious! We also split the Bayou Chickin sandwich- being from New Orleans it caught my eye and I'm glad it did! Lightly blackened "chickin" with cajun spices, lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, and spicy vegan mayo on a whole wheat bun with red cabbage coleslaw on the side. This sandwich was heaven in my mouth. Perfectly blackened "meat" and the cajun spice was just amazing.. put me back in New Orleans for a minute. This is a place you can bring friends who aren't vegan.. they wouldn't know the difference . trust me! I will be a frequent customer here so close to my apartment great prices. nothing over $10 and big enough to share! Overall pure deliciousness !

So a food review: Today for lunch I went back to pretty much my favorite restaurant ever here in LA. Real Food Daily.. The daily part describes it best.. I could eat this everyday the menu is huge, but don't worry I'll try it all and give a review:D . Today we ordered the BLT Tartine as an appetizer which is little crisp pieces of bread with basically an open face tempeh blt, vegan mayo, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. This was delicious the bread was crisp, and the tempeh cooked to perfection. Then we went mexican and split the Tac'O Town tacos filled with seitan, onions, peppers, pico de gallo, tofu sour cream, rice and black beans. these were absolutely the best mexican tacos I have ever eaten! Messy.. yes.. but so worth it. just get extra napkins! We also got the Mexicali Salad- figure we'd stick to the mexican theme here.. a salad filled with pinto beans, avocado, corn, seasonal vegetables, romaine lettuce, and a cilantro-lime dressing. A great salad very filling and a tangy dressing. super super good. Then of course we got a couple of those yummy cookies to go... OH and that acai tea that i adore.. MHM. love it here!

Swami's/Lotus Cafe: Encinitas CA.

So today we took a relaxing day here in CA. and heading south to Encinitas California ( just before San Diego) for my moms birthday .. since she use to live there and we BOTH love it! . I have to say that Encinitas is one of my favorite little towns in California, its full of surfers and little " shack shop" type stores.. don't take my word though visit yourself:). I think one of the big draws for Encinitas ( at least for me) is Swami Cafe right along Highway 101 just before the beach. This little hole in the wall surf shack serves some of the best and healthiest food around! It's my favorite spot to eat when Im in Encinitas( which will be more frequently since I live in LA) it's only about 1 hour and 45 minutes away ( without traffic.. ha ) lovely drive along the way though so I enjoyed it. Back to the food... We ordered 2 of our favorite menu items at swamis We each got a small Acai Bowl - which is the most delicious thing on the menu.. yes, you can find acai bowls at other little shops, but they DON'T compare to Swamis trust me. This bowl is like a thick acai smoothie, topped off with banana slices, blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries, strawberries, homemade granola, bee pollen, and coconut( i substitute for extra granola as Im not a big coconut fan) . I could eat this every single day of my life, never have I put something so good and healthy in my mouth, It's good on a nice hot day a cold day, oh heck ANY day:) We then split the Organic Whole Grain Belgian Waffle with Strawberries and Soy Bacon.. There Waffles are thick and grainy and delicious , topped with the fresh strawberries you can't go wrong. The soy bacon comes hot and crispy. This place is #1 so definitely stop in if you get a chance to hit Encinitas:) Then a few doors down we found "The Lotus Cafe" where we thought we would find a delicious vegan dessert to go with some tea, we were right. Found a chocolate cupcake and a carrot cake and split. These were some of the most decadent vegan cupcakes I have ever put in my mouth , I could drink the frosting it was like pure cream, and moist batter. All in all a fabulous day spent with my mom! She's heading out friday, and then shipping my car up which will be great! Life is good here on the West Coast:)

Real Food Daily: WeHo CA.

SO I've been wanting to try "Real Food Daily" and today me and my mom went and did! It's about 2 miles from my apartment , right near the Beverly Center. so really close. Let me start of with the Acai Berry Tea- the best tea I've ever had AND free refills, I definitely got my moneys worth, I think they refilled me 4 or 5 times then got one to go:) Obviously I would say if you ever get to Real Food Daily in West Hollywood start of with a refreshing glass of Acai Tea. Then we got as an appetizer the "Nori Maki Rolls" pretty much like vegan sushi but exceptionally good with sweet brown rice, shiso, tempeh, avocado, carrot, collard greens, umeboshi, tamari, wasabi, and pickled ginger with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. Then we decided to get two things and split. We took the waitors recommendation for a good sandwich and got "The Club" which consisted of seitan, tempeh bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and veganaise on delicious organic bread accompanied with your choice of a house salad or caesar, being the caesar lover that I am we got that! We also decided to split a Basic 5 plate ( you choose five sides of different things) we got Seitan Salisbury, lentils, pressed salad, potato salad, and collard greens with a hickory BBQ dipping sauce. really healthy and earthy if you will. YUM. Then we got a peanut butter cookie, a currant oatmeal cookie, and brownie to try a but of each. Melt in your mouth good. This place is definitely a favorite and a place I'll be a frequent at. Come to West Hollywood and experience the delicousness for yourself.. taste is worth a thousand words:)
