OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance 5
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade, 10
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate: 15
I am the captain of my soul.

Monday.... I wish you were Friday:)

Today was actually an ok Monday although Monday's are never as good as Fridays.. I think most people would agree:) I went to the arm doctor today, kind of expecting him to do something to relieve my arm pain.. a shot or something but he just wants me to go get an x-ray on my wrist to make sure nothing is wrong... So my arm still hurts, but It does feel a bit better today.. This week seems like its going to be long, partly because the weather is going to be bad. Rain/Snow ( slush) mix everyday this week :/ I hate when it rains in NYC its so gross. So the rain along with getting up at 5 a.m. two days this week is making it seem a bit long.. oh plus the x-ray.. but I'm sure it'll be a good week:) Or a week that makes me appreciate the weekend even more:) On another note.. I went to Candle Cafe on the upper east side today for lunch ( since it wasn't to far from my DR.) Got the special today which was a spinach wrap filled with grilled seitan, sweet pat., kale, and black eyed peas with an aioli dressing- with a side of vegan cole slaw. It was so good and big to.. I'm not huge on the wrap so I mostly ate the inside but it was full of stuff so It was really good:) Love this cafe. One of the best and one of Dr. Oz favorites- so I'm all for it:) That was pretty much my day... we'll see how the week goes:) RR tomorrow all day. tomorrow should actually be fun so fun guests and work to do:) woohoo. adios - enjoy the candle pictures!

Cafe Blossom: NYC

So had church today which was great- had to hurry after the gym because my arm makes me take longer. ha. BUT I made it in time then went over to Blossom for lunch! Tried a new sandwhich. "Soy Bacon Burger" topped with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and chipotle aioli with some cole slaw. HUGE! Also got some really good charred brussel sprouts. they were really good:) This is one of the best sandwiches to order here at Blossom. A healthy version of a cheeseburger with some crunchy soy bacon! YUMM .

Oh Friday, I missed you:)

I am so glad its finally the weekend. To be honest this week has gone by slow and hasn't been the best.. BUT life goes on and things always get better. Not a bad week just stressful things, lots to take care of and what not. Of course some fun stuff to! My arm is starting to feel a little better but it makes things harder to do and take more time to do them.. so I'm hoping it's all better soon:) Class tonight was pretty fun. Hopes class always is . hehe. a few pictures from today:)

Wild Ginger: NYC

Got to grab Wild Ginger for lunch today on Broome Street not to far from babycakes actually;) how convenient :) Cute little chinese vegan restaurant not far from China town - so the ambience was set. I got the Summer rolls to start all raw and so good. then the Mango Soy Protein with fresh mango in a plum sauce with zucchini sugar snap peas, peppers and onions. accompanied by a small green salad with carrot ginger dressing and a hot cup of Ginger tea. Amazing freshly made food. Definitely recommend it if you want some healthy chinese food:) Enjoy the pictures! Wildgingervegan.com

Faith, Hope, and Love..but the greatest of these is Love...

Im pretty sure most people either have built up a total hatred for Valentines Day or a love for Valentines Day.. Most of the ones who hate it are single and the ones who really love it are taken of course. I actually don't have to much feeling about the holiday, I pretty much just do the same thing regardless of the fact that its Valentines Day. The only difference is the streets are filled with more couples than normal and there is a lot of pink and red going on. Plus chocolates and flowers like nobody's business. Of course the Flower shops and candy stores and the famed hallmark already know that:) One thing that I always find cute, I will admit is seeing a relatively old couple still together having a nice quiet lunch. It's cute because you can imagine they've been together for a million years ( in marriage terms ha.) and they know the bad and the good of each other and there still there sitting together enjoying each other. Everyone we meet has good and bad qualities, some things we like and some things we don't and to be able to stay with the same person out of a pure love for so many years - thats a well deserved valentines day date. I went to church today and the series the pastor is preaching on " Pure Sex" was pretty appropriate for Valentines Day- It was a great message then I headed to Blossom for lunch and thats where the little old couple sat enjoying each others company after all these years. Its a rare thing in todays society to stay together that long. kudos:) The other hand I don't mind being single on V day or having lunch alone. I think you have to be happy with you and enjoy your own company before you can invite anyone else into the picture- so that's just what I did, and it was a nice day:) I think having the most amazing love in the world given to me ( Jesus) makes me feel complete everyday- so I just use Valentines Day as a reminder of that.
What's pretty sad is how most single people on V-Day get all depressed that their " alone" don't have that one guy to send them flowers or make them feel special on this particular day. Make yourself feel special, enjoy the love of friendships and life.. not just boys.. I mean There are a few married folks and people dating that I know that I really admire there relationships. because there so pure and special between the two.. and for those of you blessed with that- I hope you enjoyed V-day with the special someone.. but for my fellow single friends out there I hope you had an equally amazing day and didn't let the day depress you but I hope it was a reminder of the great love of Christ and life in itself..

On another note, tried something new at Blossom today - a Seitan Sand. with cole slaw ( vegan of course) Huge .. so it works for 2 meals:)

Sacred Chow: NYC

So today, the snow has pummeled the city, and the wind continues to blow.. it seems to be getting worse now.. Anyway I decided to brave the snow after hitting the gym and head over to "Sacred Chow" on Sullivan Street near Washington Square park.. Thank God for the subway systems in this weather:) It was a nice little trip.. then I got to Sacred Chow and I ordered 1/2 a seitan hoagie on wheat bread, and 1/2 caesar salad with tempeh strips.. then I got a sinner bar this was the most amazing "dessert" I've ever put in my mouth. also got a macaroon and a "jammie" pretty good stuff there! they have so many options on there menu.. mouth watering yum! Then I headed over to Union Square and went to wholefoods then took a cab home.. :) It was a nice day!:) Glad to be inside from the snow warm and cozy! :) Sacredchow.com

Cafe Blossom: NYC

So today I went to Blossom Cafe on the Upper West Side.. right near the museum. Its an amazing little vegan organic restaurant:) The staff was really nice and the food was amazing! Of course I had to try their caesar salad which was awesome and I got some BBQ seitan over a Jicama and Carrot shred. Both were SOOO good. After I took home a couple of raw granola cookies which were just as good! Love this little cafe - definitely will go back!

Peacefood Cafe: NYC

So this week has been really great.. my mom was up visiting so we just ran around the city and tried a new vegan restaurant everyday.. and found the best of the best:) Today since she left we went back to an old favorite Peacefood on the Upper West Side for a little breakfast, but not before stopping in at Cafe Lola for a hot drink on 83rd:) Great morning:) Today we got a soy mocha drink, then split a caesar tempeh salad, and tofu scramble.. then got a chocolate ganache "Cake" and "caramel "Cheesecake" ( of course all vegan and no sugar.. amazing they make stuff this good:)} So any who.. the week has officially ended and now its back to reality-- sometimes I think life would be more fun if it was all play and no work. sound good?
